About Mahuli Trek
Mahuli Fort is at a height of 2815 ft and hence is a highest point in the Thane district making it a popular trekking destination and paradise for rock climbers because of many nearby pinnacles. This mountain complex is actually a group of two or more hills with common pinnacles. The surrounding forest has been declared as a sanctuary. Shahaji Raje, father of Shivaji Maharaj, once had this fortress`s. The fort has been declared as a protected monument. This monument consist of a Shiva temple, a small perennial drinking water cistern on top and three caves of which the larger can be used as overnight shelter, like as on many other such natural hill forts of Maharashtra Western Ghats (Sahyadri Range). There is a stone arch historically known as the 'Kalyan Darwaja' but the dome of the arch is now broken.

Trek Itinerary
All participants assemble at Asangaon Station by 9am. We proceed further to the base village. Relish some Breakfast enroute. Begin trekking by10:00 am. Reach atop and have village style lunch. Later free time for exploring the fort and taking photographs. Descend towards base village and reach by evening. Have some Tea and freshen up before heading back by 6:00 pm and reach Mumbai around 9:30 pm approx.
