Manaslu Larkey Pass Trek

Departure Date: 7 th May 2024.

Itinerary

  • Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu [1350 m/ 4428 ft]

    Arrival at Kathmandu International Airport. Transfer to Hotel. Later day we will visit to Pashupatinath Temple, evening free time at Leisure & rest. You can either relish the unique and delicious Nepali cuisine that Nepal is famous for or decide to stroll around the streets of your hotel. Breathe in the ambience of Kathmandu as much as you can. There will also be a full trek briefing on this evening. O/N Kathmandu.

  • Day 02: Drive from Kathmandu to Maccha Khola [900m/2952 ft] 7-8 hours

    Morning after the breakfast we drive to Machha Khola. During the drive, we enjoy views of the Nepalese countryside along with the mountain scenery. We will be driving on a paved road from Kathmandu to Dhading Bensi, district headquarter of Dhading (1050m) but the drive from Dhanding Bensi to Arughat will be on a rough road. Upon reaching Arughat, a major town in the region, we continue drive towards Machha Khola. O/N at Lodge in Machha Khola.

  • Day 03: Trek from Maccha Khola to Jagat [1410m/ 4625 ft] 6 – 7 Hrs

    The narrow trail makes some minor ups and downs and eventually crosses the Tharo Khola and reaching Khorlabesi. After a few more ascends and descends we come across a small Hot spring in Tatopani. From the hot spring, we climb over another ridge, then cross the Budhi Gandaki on a suspension bridge. At this juncture, we climb on a wide, well-crafted staircase, then across a landslide and over a ridge to Dobhan. Upon crossing a suspension bridge over the Yaru Khola, we climb the stone stairs and then drop to the river and again climb more stone stairs to Tharo Bharyang. Crossing the west bank of the Budhi Gandaki, we climb over a ridge, trek along the river and then climb towards the village of Jagat. O/N at Lodge in Jagat.

  • Day 04: Trek from Jagat to Deng (1920 m / 6297 ft) 7 – 8 hours

    After breakfast trek along the Budi Gandaki River through flat way to Philim village and to Eklebhatti village where we stop for lunch. From Eklebhatti we cross the river again and enter to dramatic section of the gorge high above the river. The trail goes up to west side of the valley and offers a pleasant walk-through bamboo forest to the village of Deng. O/N at Lodge in Deng Village.

  • Day 05: Trek from Deng to Namrung [2250 m /7380 ft.) 6 -7 hrs

    Today, we enter the area influenced by Buddhism. Walking few ups and downs through forests, we arrive at Ghap. On the way one can see well preserved paintings and elegant mani walls. From here valley becomes steeper and we ascend through bamboo and rhododendron forest to the village of Namrung. O/N at Lodge in Namrung Village.

  • Day 06: Namrung to Sama Gaun (3450m /11316 ft.) 6-7 hrs

    Today, we start our trek with view of Ngadi Chuli or Peak 29. It is steep up way through the forest for couple of hours to bring us Shyala. From here we have superb view of Manaslu and Himalchuli. From here, easy walking through the forest brings us in Sama Gaun. O/N at Lodge in Samagaun.

  • Day 07: Explore to Manaslu Base Camp then trek to Samdo Village [3780 m/ 12398 ft 6-7 hrs

    Today after the breakfast we have pleasant walk to Manaslu Base camp then Samdo vilalge. The trail goes gradual up following Kali Gandaki River passing several mani walls. We also get the magnificent view of Mt. Manaslu and other major peaks throughout the day. We cross the Kaligandaki River and climb for 15-20 minutes before reaching Samdo. O/N at Lodge in Samdo Village.

  • Day 08: Trek from Samdo to Dharmashala / Larkya Base. Camp [4460 m/14628 ft] 4 – 5 hrs

    Today after the breakfast we continue our walk down the edge, cross the wooden bridge over Budi Gandaki and begin walking upward. Upon crossing two streams and witnessing the Larkya Glacier we go around the valley of the Salka Khola and climb up again to the stone guest house [4450 m], which is not a lodge but a kind of shelter called Dharmashala, also known as Larke Phedi. The short walk today also leaves plenty of time for acclimatization and relaxing in the afternoon. O/N at Lodge in Dharmashala.

  • Day 09: Dharmashala – Larkya la [5160 m /16924 ft] Bimthang [3720 m/12201 ft] 8 – 9 hrs

    After a short climb, we reach a valley on the north side of the Larkya Glaciers from where we can enjoy great views of Cho Danda and Larkya Peak. Finally, we walk across moraines of the glacier, making a gradual ascent which becomes steeper only in the last section of the pass. From the pass, there are outstanding views of Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, Kangguru and the huge Annapurna II. It is a longer day than usual to Bimtang, but to walk into these low pastures with the evening mist coming in with Mt. Manaslu looming close by is an overwhelming experience. O/N at Lodge in Bhimthang.

  • Day 10: Bimthang to Dharapani [1860 m/ 6100 ft] 6-7 hours

    We can enjoy great views of Mt. Manaslu, Lamjung Himal, Himlung Himal and Cheo Himal. We descend further and cross a high pasture (Sangure Kharka) followed by a bridge over Dudh Khola. We walk through rhododendron forest and follow a trail through a narrow valley until we reach the highest cultivated land of the valley at Karche, 2785 meters. We pass across fields before making a steep climb over a ridge. The trail comes off the ridge in a big, sweeping arc to the river bank at 2580m. A short distance beyond is the village of Gho –Tilije & Dharapani. O/N at Lodge in Dharapani.

  • Day 11: Dive to Beshishar – Kathmandu.

    Today after the breakfast drive to Kathmandu via Besi Sahar offers one an opportunity to enjoy both hill and mountain landscapes. The drive is often along the banks of the Marsyangdi and Trishuli rivers. We also drive by some beautiful villages with farming terraces on both sides of the road. In Kathmandu, we will be escorted to our hotel. O/N at Hotel in Kathmandu.

  • Day:12

    Rest day / Reserve Day in Kathmandu after the trip or shopping day. O/N Kathmandu.

  • Day:13

    Final Departure Day.
