Destination: Agartala – Mizoram – Meghalaya – Arunachal Pradesh – Assam – Nagaland – Manipur

Itinerary

  • Day 01: Agartala (Tripura)

    Today arrive at Agartala Airport, received and transferred to hotel (15 kms / 30 min), check into hotel and after refreshment visit Lakshmi Mandir, Ujjayanta Palace, Jagannath temple and local markets where you can find the best bamboo handicraft by expert craftsmen. Evening at leisure and overnight stay.

  • DAY 02: AGARTALA – UDAIPUR – AGARTALA (TRIPURA)

    Today after breakfast we will drive to Udaipur (50 kms / 02 hrs drive), enroute we will visit Sipahijala Wildlife Sanctuary. On reaching Udaipur visit Matabari temple, Kali temple bordering Bangladesh, then we will proceed to Mela Ghar to visit Neer Mahal. Back drive to Agartala and overnight stay.

  • DAY 03: AGARTALA - SILCHAR (ASSAM)

    Today after breakfast drive to Silchar (300 kms / 08 hrs drive), overnight stay at Silchar.

  • DAY 04: SILCHAR - AIZAWL (MIZORAM)

    Today after breakfast drive to Aizwal (175 kms / 05 hrs drive), reach Aizwal and check into hotel, later visit the Aizwal city view point and later visit Bara bazaar of Aizwal. Overnight stay in Aizwal. (Silchar would be a night halt as driving from Agartala to Aizwal is very long and hectic).

  • DAY 05: AIZAWL (MIZORAM)

    Today after breakfast visit State Museum, later drive to visit the Vantwang falls. While returning back visit a typical Mizo tribal village enroute. Evening free at leisure and overnight stay.

  • DAY 06: AIWAWL - SILCHAR (ASSAM)

    Drive back to Silchar, today visit a typical Rengma Naga village in the middle of Silchar town, evening at leisure. Overnight stay at Silchar.

  • DAY 07: SILCHAR – SHILLONG (MEGHALAYA)

    Today after breakfast drive to Shillong (280 kms / 08 hrs drive), reach Shillong and check into hotel and overnight stay. Shillong is the capital and hill station of Meghalaya, also known as "The Abode of Clouds", one of the smallest states in India. It is the headquarters of the East Khasi Hills district and is situated at an average altitude of 4,908 feet above sea level, with the highest point being Shillong Peak at 6,449 feet. Shillong is the 330th most populous city in India with population of 143,007 according to the 2011 census. It is said that the rolling hills around the town reminded the European settlers of Scotland. Hence, they would also refer to it as the "Scotland of the East"

  • DAY 08: SHILLONG – CHERRAPUNJEE – SHILLONG (MEGHALAYA)

    Today after breakfast we set to explore Shillong and Cherrapunjee (56 kms / 02 hrs drive), we will visit the Elephant falls, Shillong Peak (the highest point in Meghalaya) and the drive further to Cherrapunjee, at Cherrapunjee we visit the Nohkalikai Falls (the fourth highest falls in the world), Mawsmai Cave, Dainthlen Falls and Krem Falls. After exploring for the day we will drive back to Shillong and overnight stay. (Note: In winter many falls are dry, so we have not put that in the itinerary as it would waste your driving time, however the mentioned one would have some water falling out but the scenic beauty is appreciable)

  • DAY 09: SHILLONG - GUWAHATI

    Today after breakfast drive to Guwahati ( 120 kms/ 03 hrs drive), reach Guwahati and visit Kamakhya Temple, Navagraha temple, Balaji temple, and Craft Centre and later check into hotel, evening visit Srimanta Sankardeva Kalekshetra. Overnight stay in Guwahati.

  • DAY 10: GUWAHATI– NAMERI (ASSAM)

    Today after breakfast transferred to Nameri (295 kms / 05 hrs drive), we can visit the Sualkuchi Silk weaving village of Assam and Hajo village, reach Nameri and check into Eco Camp and overnight stay.

  • DAY 11: NAMERI – DIRANG ( ARUNACHAL PRADESH)

    Today after breakfast we will proceed for Dirang ( 05 hrs drive), enroute we will stop at TIPI ORCHID Centre in TIPPI ( Please do note that orchid flowering is best from late April till End August) and look at the variety of Orchids found in the region collected at one place, then we will stop at some scenic spots as per choice for photography also tea break, we will cross the Bomdila Town and follow the road to Dirang, on reaching Dirang visit the Dirang Dzong ( which was the administrative centre of the Monpa and Tibetan culture long time ago), visit Dirang Monastery and if time permits visit a KIWI garden, later check into you hotel. Evening at leisure and overnight stay in Dirang.

  • DAY 12: DIRANG – TAWANG (ARUNACHAL PRADESH)

    Today after breakfast we will proceed to Tawang ( 09 hrs journey including enroute sightseeing), after driving for 4 ½ hrs approx we will reach Sella Pass ( located at 13476 ft ), stop at Sela Pass for sometime and also visit the Sela Lake ( or Paradise Lake ) in Sela Pass, after spending some time we will proceed further and stop at Jaswant Ghar (This war memorial stands in memory of rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat, Mahavir Chakra Awardee (Posthumous) of the 4th Battalion of Garhwal Rifles Infantry Regiment. Jaswant showed his valor by fighting and holding the invading Chinese back for 72 hours all alone during the 1962 India-China war and remained at his post at an altitude of about 10,000 feet before succumbing to an enemy bullet during that bloody winter war. The post that he held to repulse the Chinese troops has been renamed Jaswant Garh in recognition of his valor and sacrifice), the next stoppage would be Nurarang Falls or Jung Falls ( please do note that in winter month the fall has very less water and also because of the Power Plant project of Nurarang), after spending some time of there also having a hot cup of tea and munches proceed for Tawang ( 02hrs drive from Jung), reach Tawang and check into your hotel, evening at leisure and overnight stay in Tawang.

  • DAY 13: TAWANG (ARUNACHAL PRADESH)

    Today after breakfast we will visit the Sangetsar Lake (also known as Madhuri Lake), PTso Lake and Bumla Pass (Indo – China border) (Please do note that permission to Bumla Pass depends on the Army official permit and the situation of the area – also in winter the area get huge amount of snowfall), back to Tawang and visit Tawang Monastery, Urgelling Monastery, Anni Gompa, Hot Spring, Craft Centre and Tawang War Memorial, evening visit Tawang market. Overnight stay in Tawang

  • DAY 14: TAWANG – BOMDILA ( ARUNACHAL PRADESH)

    Today after an early breakfast we drive to Bomdila (195 kms / 08 hrs drive), reach Bomdila and visit Bomdila Monastery and Bomdila Point, check into hotel and evening at leisure. Overnight at Bomdila.

  • DAY 15: BOMDILA – KAZIRANGA (ASSAM)

    Today after breakfast we will drive to Kaziranga (235 kms / 07 hrs drive), reach Kaziranga and overnight stay. Kaziranga National Park – a world heritage site, the park hosts two-thirds of the world’s Great One-horned rhinoceros. Kaziranga also boasts the highest density of tigers among the protected areas in the world and was declared a Tiger Reserve in 2006. Though sighting of tigers are difficult because of the tall grasses that provide excellent camouflage, their presence can be felt everywhere by way of pug marks, kills and territorial markings. The park is home to large breeding populations of elephants, wild water buffalo and swamp deer.

  • DAY 16: KAZIRANGA (ASSAM)

    Today you will go for safaris and elephant ride inside the national park. Early morning go for an Elephant ride ( timing 5:00 AM/ 06:00 AM/ 7:00 AM) then return back to the lodge and after breakfast go for a Jeep Safari (timing 8:00 AM / 9:00 AM) for 03 hrs, after the safari come back to lodge. After lunch and refreshment go for another Jeep Safari in the Western/ Central range of the park (timing 2:00AM / 3:00 AM) for 02 ½ hrs ( also depending on the sunset as in winters the sun sets early in Northeast India), evening at leisure. Overnight stay at Kaziranga.

  • DAY 17:KAZIRANGA – KOHIMA ( NAGALAND)

    Today after breakfast we will proceed to Kohima (06 ½ hrs drive), reach Kohima and check into accommodation and overnight stay.

  • DAY 18: KOHIMA (NAGALAND)

    Today explore the Kohima War Memorial, Kohima Museum, Emporium, Angami villages. Later we will drive to Khonoma village (20 kms) and explore the tribal life of the Angami Tribes and back to Kohima and overnight stay.

  • DAY 19: KOHIMA – IMPHAL (MANIPUR)

    Today after breakfast transferred to Imphal (150 kms / 05 hrs drive), check into hotel, later explore the Ima Market, Govindajee Temple and Kangla Fort ( if time permits).Overnight in Manipur.

  • DAY 20: IMPHAL (MANIPUR)

    Today after breakfast we will drive to Moirang to explore the Loktak lake and Kaibul Lamjao national Park (famous for the rare dancing dear). Also explore the Japanese War Memorial, INA museum, Red Hill – a memorial of Japanese Army later drive back to Imphal, after refreshment and leisure and overnight stay.

  • DAY 21: IMPHAL – FLY

    Today after breakfast drive to Imphal airport for onward destination.
