After an early breakfast and checkout from the hotel, leave to visit Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Bhaktapur or Bhadgaon literally meaning ‘the City of Devotees’ is the smallest city in the Kathmandu valley. Its Main Square or ‘Layaku’ is famous for the 15th century Palace of 55 Carved Windows with the Golden Gate as a royal entrance. In front of the palace building are innumerable temples and architectural showpieces including the Lion Gate, the statue of King Bhupatindra Malla mounted on a giant stone pillar and the stone temple of Vatsala Devi; another beautiful example of Shikhara-style architecture. There is a bronze bell on the terrace of the temple, which is also known as the Bell of Barking Dogs. This was erected in 1737 by King Ranjit Malla; its sounding announced the beginning and end of a daily curfew. Here onwards drive to Nagarkot - a scenic spot 32 km east of Kathmandu, It is known for a sunrise view of the Himalayas including Mount Everest as well as other peaks of the Himalayan range of eastern Nepal. After breakfast, proceed to Kathmandu sightseeing tour of -- The Pashupatinath Temple - dedicated to Pashupati, a form of Shiva, it was classified as a World Heritage Site in 1979. It is a"sprawling collection of temples, ashrams, images and inscriptions raised over the centuries along the banks of the sacred Bagmati river", and is one of seven monument groups in UNESCO’s designation of Kathmandu Valley. Boudhanath Stupa - also known as Boudhanath, Khasti Chaitya and khasa, its massive mandala makes it one of the largest spherical stupas in Nepal and the world. The Stupa is said to entomb the remains of Kassapa Buddha. It is located on the ancient trade route from Tibet. Swayambhunath, Said to be around 2000 years old, this Buddhist Stupa sits atop a hillock overlooking the valley, a legend has it that the stupa evolved spontaneously at the time of the Kathmandu valley’s creation, also known as the ‘Monkey Temple’ owing to the presence of a large number of monkeys around the area.
